Community Education Workers: See Our Innovation Support on Film

In 2014, SVP made an investment in the Community Education Worker (CEW) pilot to support early parent-child learning in a community-driven, culturally-specific, and cost-effective way. Launched initially in Latino, Native and African-American communities, the model addresses the root causes impacting kindergarten readiness, parenting strength, and community empowerment.In addition to SVP’s $50,000 grant to fully evaluate the pilot, the state Early Learning Division's Kindergarten Readiness Partnership & Innovation Grant project and two foundations allied with SVP helped to fund the launch. Seven CEWs have served 54 families while the systems, processes, infrastructure, training, funding, and strong relationships were put into place for a successful ramp-up in the number of children served in year two of the pilot. With the pieces in place, we are rounding up support for second year funding from a renewed state Partnership & Innovation Grant and private donors.SVP proudly supports this project as a community partner with:
