Joe’s Court 2022
Joe’s Court is a celebration to honor SVP Partners who have invested for 10 years or more. The concept for Joe’s Court came about in 2014 — 13 years after launching SVP Portland — to recognize both the founding and growing number of Partners that remained committed to our mission. In 2022 there were 38 Partners representing more than 30% of our Partnership.
Joe’s Court was named after Joe Barthmaier, a founding Partner who served in a vast number of volunteer roles. He was an avid tennis player and debater, so Joe’s “Court” was a fitting name for the group and event.
After two years of virtual gatherings, we were able to share a meal in person with the dedicated Partners who have invested in SVP Portland for 10 or more years. Nourishment and joy came from the delectable seasonal food provided by locally-owned Renata, and in the form of conversation and camaraderie among those who attended. Bianca verde pizza, porchetta spiced chicken, gnocchi, and panna cotta. Can you think of a more delicious way to celebrate our 2022 Joe’s Court members?!
As our Relationship Manager Dylan Hall puts it, “I was thrilled for the opportunity to spend an evening getting to know some of the organization’s most tenured and dedicated Partners on a more personal level. The atmosphere at Renata was wonderful, dinner was outstanding, and the energy between everyone was vibrant throughout the night! It was really inspiring hearing about some of their journeys and connections to SVP’s mission as it has evolved over the years, and I walked away feeling very grateful to be a part of an organization with such dedicated and genuine people at its core.”
On her longtime commitment as an SVP Partner, Shannon Jones reflects, “I have learned so many things about Portland, the city of my birth, through SVP Portland. Having served on two investment committees, it’s been really meaningful to see some of those nonprofits grow (such as Latino Network and Children’s Book Bank). The leadership that SVP Portland shows in equity and diversity work is a continuous source of pride and learning.”
Dylan adds, “Many thanks to Ryland Moore and Arnerich Massena for sponsoring the evening, and to all the Partners who were able to attend. Looking forward to next year’s gathering!”
