Latino Network to Build La Plaza Esperanza
Our longtime Community Partner, Latino Network, is building its first home! As with any friend committing to their forever home, we're so excited for them and want to help. It has been an honor and a privilege to have worked alongside this amazing organization for the last 7.5 years as lead partner. The tremendous growth of Latino Network and the increased impact on the community has been truly amazing.
We now all have an opportunity to contribute to the continued growth of Latino Network and even greater impact on our Latinx community. SVP Partners and friends are teaming to raise capital funds to build La Plaza Esperanza. The site will be located in East Multnomah County, where more than 50,000 Latinx residents live in an area underserved by community resources that meet their needs. La Plaza Esperanza advances Latino Network’s mission to positively transform the lives of Latino youth, families, and communities.
There are currently few options for culturally-specific, high-quality early learning programs for Latinx children. Addressing this gap is essential to achieving our shared goal for systemic equity in early childhood education. Overall, Latino Network’s goal is to raise $12 million for building La Plaza Esperanza. A portion of funds raised will dedicate the play area of the preschool in loving memory of Sarah Cohen-Doherty, honoring her passionate commitment to ensure that all children thrive.
It's certainly an exciting time right now and I'm so happy to see La Plaza Esperanza finally coming to fruition after many years of strategizing and planning. It will be an incredible asset to the community.
