Facing a Moment of Opportunity & Urgency

Thank you to everyone who attended our 2024 Partners’ Meeting and Happy Hour gathering! Executive Director, Lauren Johnson, and Board Chair, Bob Tate, shared an update on SVP’s community impact priorities as well as our business model evolution. We appreciated the incisive questions and thoughtful ideas and input from all who attended and engaged in the discussion.

Bob set the stage for the reality we encounter today, sharing, “Now is a dynamic & turbulent moment… Inequalities are more evident to us all, everyday. Philanthropy & organizations like SVP face a challenge like we never have before. How can we most effectively support the legions of social enterprises to meet the escalating needs of our communities? What must WE do to meet these challenges?

At SVP Portland, we’ve made a choice to rise to this occasion – support even more kids access to preschool, faster & more broadly. To test new ways to do it that power-up our community leaders and to scale new pathways that show real promise. To consistently embrace racial & social justice practices within SVP and across our community touchpoints.”

If you weren’t able to attend the meeting, you can see the PowerPoint here or watch the meeting recording on YouTube here. Do you have questions to ask, feedback to share, or want to get engaged? Please contact Lauren at lauren@svpportland.org or Ursula at ursula@svpportland.org.
