Launching SVP’s Ready to Grow Cohort!

SVP Portland is thrilled to announce the launch of our Ready to Grow Cohort, a transformative program designed to help preschool providers to scale their impact and create more seats for children in our community.

The new Cohort is a five-month immersive experience that provides preschool leaders with the tools, knowledge, and support they need to expand their programs and reach more children. Through a combination of expert-led training, peer learning, and mentorship, participants will:

  • Enhance essential business skills like financial management, marketing, and operations.

  • Connect with a community of like-minded professionals and share experiences.

  • Develop a comprehensive business plan to guide their expansion efforts.

  • Gain the self-assurance to navigate challenges and make strategic decisions.

Why are we launching this cohort?

Many preschool providers in our community struggle to scale their impact due to limited resources and capacity. This is especially true for organizations led by and serving communities of color, who often face disproportionate barriers to growth. We believe that by investing in the growth and sustainability of early learning professionals learning alongside one another, especially those led by and serving communities of color, we can more effectively contribute to our goal of universal preschool.

SVP’s Director of Community Impact, Carolina Castaneda, reflected, "I'm excited about the cohort because I believe in the power of bringing people together to co-create collective knowledge. Our community is in need of more great preschools run by people who resonate with their culture, and we’re excited about walking alongside them as they grow and succeed."

We are grateful to Meyer Memorial Trust, Kelley Family Foundation and Raymond Family Foundation for their exceptional support in making this cohort a reality, as well as the creativity, coordination and dedication of SVP’s Community Impact Project Manager, Jenn Luevano-Brummett, who collaborated withKevin Quinn and Encore Fellow Scott Overson, to design the curriculum, as well as engage a dozen SVP Partners as session facilitators and advisors. We are also thrilled to welcome the seven social entrepreneurs who were selected to participate in our initial pilot!
