Meet Our New Finance & Operations Manager, Kristin Kanan!

We are thrilled to welcome Kristin Kanan as SVP Portland’s new Finance & Operations Manager! In this role, Kristin will oversee our financial systems and operational functions, ensuring that we have the robust processes, reporting, and infrastructure needed to meet our strategic goals.

Kristin brings extensive expertise in finance and operations, enriched by her background in marketing, project management, and nonprofit management. Originally from Los Angeles, Kristin moved to Portland in 2015, drawn by her love of service, nature and community.

Prior to joining SVP, Kristin served as Director of Finance and Operations at Northwest Outward Bound School, where her skills in financial analysis, budgeting, and organizational support proved invaluable to the organization’s mission. Kristin’s eclectic experience prior to her service in the nonprofit sector includes law, business affairs, marketing, project management, social media content creation and residential real estate sales, investment and renovation.

Kristin is excited to join the SVP team where she can share her skills and knowledge from her 35+ years of professional experience. Kristin shared, “I strongly support SVP’s mission and dedication to break down racist systems by fostering connections across communities and amplifying the voices of those directly impacted to ensure that every child, no matter their background, has access to a high-quality, culturally-relevant early learning experience. “

Outside of work, Kristin loves playing board games with her husband, trading plant-based recipes with her daughter, sharing her creative projects with her son and gardening with her rescue pups. You can also find her cheering on the Portland Timbers as a loyal member of the Timbers Army.

You can reach out to her at kristin@svpportland.org if you’d like to connect and welcome her to SVP Portland!
